Their next stop was at the land of king Amycus, where the king challenged to a fistfight anyone who passed by. Jason himself begot at least one child with none other than Hypsipyle, Euneus. Medea used Pelias daughters, by demonstrating them how to make their father young again. Fully committed to Jason, Medea not only helped him extinguish Talos, the giant bronze man, but also personally killed her very own brother. Once ship was built, Jason invited the bravest and mightiest warriors from Greece. Jason had 4 children: Euneus, Nebrophonus, Mermerus and Pheres. Now a grown man, Jason returned to Iolcus to attend some games held by Pelias in honor of the god Poseidon; during his travel, he lost one of his sandals in the river Anaurus while helping a disguised Hera to cross. When Jason reached early twenties, he decided to come back to Volos to reclaim his kingdom. Castor was a great horseman, while Pollux was the best boxer around. It appeared they had a safe sail to the island of Colchis when, at night, their navigator fell asleep and from the Argo fell into the water and drowned. Their pursuers from Colchis arrived at about the same time and demanded the return of Medea. However, they were driven back by Jason and his fellow Argonauts who again had to depart shortly after. In the course of their journey, Jason and the Argonauts met with many adventures and perils (see Argonauts for a more extended account) – and overcome them all. In fear of losing her son, Alcimede sent Jason into the wilderness where he was raised by a centaur called Chiron. The crew was prepared and they immedately set sail. Quite contrary, he was determined to bring back the golden fleece from a distant land. Phineus told Jason to release a dove and see if it would make it through, an omen for what would happen to the ship. And therefore, in order to resolve this situation peacefully, Jason passed the kingdom to his son Acastus while himself and Medea deserted to Corinth, where misfortune was brought upon them. Jason succeeded, aided in this endeavor by a magic ointment provided by Aeëtes's daughter Medea, on condition that he marry her. Jason fell in love with a princess of Corinth and wanted to marry her. The Argo was different, however, since it had Orpheus on board. The Argonauts in the end managed to overcome these treacherous rocks with the help of Athena who intervened half way through, when the rocks started to closing in on each other and the Argo(ship). Aeetes was forced to put Jason to the test by stating that he could have the fleece, if he was able to beat the fire-breathing bronze bulls and plough a field where he needed to sow the dragon’s teeth that were given to him by the king. When Medea found out of this deception, she killed the princess and her own three sons, the children she had with Jason. In this battle many had died, even the king himself, before in dawn finally recognising each other and realising their mistake. Medea’s revenge was both tragic and gruesome. On one side, it was enormous whirlpool and on the other it was Scylla, a six-headed monster of enormous size. After retrieving the Golden Fleece, Jason, Medea and the Argonauts left Colchis. Each has a main story with variations: this is Jason's quest. On the return voyage of the Argonauts, they stopped at the island of the Phaeacians, ruled by King Alcinoos and his wife Arete (featured in "The Odyssey"). Not favoured by the gods anymore, as Hera had her own satisfaction by Medea killing Pelias which was her plot from the beginning, Jason was left on his own. Jason (Iason) Jason was a Greek hero, most known for leading his Argonauts in a quest to obtain the golden fleece. As a boy, Jason was a victim of family quarrel in which his uncle Pelias killed his father Aeson and took the kingdom for himself. The following day, as the morning light revealed the tragic error, the remorseful Argonauts held a funeral for the slain king; his wife, Cleite, however, couldn’t bear the scene and hanged herself from grief. He realised that he would need a fast and enduring boat for such a long journey. The Argonauts were about experience the same fate, if it wasn't for Orpheus who had once again saved them by playing a far more powerful song with his lyre. The Argonauts decided to put an end to Harpies and helped Phineus. It also had to be the right timing because these two gigantic rocks were constantly clashing with each other. In fear of losing her son, Alcimede sent Jason into the wilderness where he was raised by a centaur called Chiron. Jason declared his name and demanded the kingdom. Moreover, even if he did become a king, Jason died a death unfitting of a hero: one night, while sleeping under the stern of his once-glorious ship Argo, a rotten beam fell down and crushed him into oblivion. Pelias, in the meantime, learned from an oracle to be wary of a man wearing a single sandal and coming from the country. And Medea was not just anyone: in addition to being a princess, she was also a high priestess of Hecate well-versed in the arts of magic and sorcery. But Zeus cursed him with taking away his vision for disclosing too many of his secrets. Others are more merciful and claim that, years later, with the help of his friend, Peleus, the hero did manage to reclaim the throne of Iolcus. When grown, Jason returned to his native city of Iolcos where he demanded back his kingdom. All of the Argonauts were tired of usual life and were eager for adventure, but had no idea that they were going to encounter the most difficult of challenges and that all of them won't be coming home. Fearing for their son after Pelias usurped the throne, Jason's parents pretended their baby had died at birth. He was to live a royal life in a modern city of Volos in the land of Iolcos, but his uncle Pelias, a half brother of Aeson, had different plans. While most of the Argonauts were on the hunt for supplies beyond the nearby Bear Mountain, their ship was attacked by the Gegeines, “the Earthborn,” a race of six-armed giants who happened to inhabit the same island. Zeus, angry at Medea's act of gruesomely killing her brother, caused a number of storms on the Argonauts’ way back home. When they were nearing the Argo, Medea used her sorcery to kill Apsyrtus, cut him to pieces and splashed them into water. Jason's strengths are his leadership and fearlessness. After killing Pelias, Medea and Jason were ejected from Iolcus and they went to Corinth, a place where Medea had a claim to the throne, as the granddaughter of the sun god Helios. Old aged and tired of living, he asked Zeus to show mercy on him. Jason could only believe the worst of his wife when he saw her engaging in such a dangerous activity, so he deserted her. The Golden Fleece was in the possession of the king, gifted to him by Phrixus when he arrived there on a flying golden ram years before. Knowing that he won't be able to overcome this difficult task, he turned over to beloved Medea to help him with her sorcery. The spoken word option is particularly useful for topics such as Greek Mythology that … -Strengths:He was a leader, a powerful man. Fortunately for him, his guardian-goddess Hera convinced Aphrodite to bribe Eros to shoot one of his arrows into Medea, Aeetes' daughter, and make her fall in love with Jason. The Golden Fleece was suspended in an oak grove in the possession of king Aeëtes in Colchis (or hung in Aeëtes's temple), and guarded day and night by a dragon. At night, the Argo set sail once again, but, unfortunately, it was blown back to the island, where the Doliones, thinking they had been attacked by pirates, stormed the ship; in the battle which ensued, many Doliones were killed, including Cyzicus himself who was murdered by Jason. On his return, he and Medea conspired to kill Pelias. The rightful prince, Jason was born in the middle of an interfamilial war for the throne of Iolcus.
